Ways to Help!
Many people have asked how we can help those in the Florida Panhandle recovering from Hurricane Michael, and those in the Carolinas still cleaning up from Hurricane Florence. As we know from past storms in South Florida, the recovery process is long and difficult. Your continuing prayers will be needed! The United Methodist Committee on Relief (“UMCOR”) has asked that people not self-deploy into the affected areas or donate unsolicited items. As we learn more of the needs, we will pass them on to the community!
In the meantime, there are several ways to donate to the relief effort…
Write a check to Plantation United Methodist Church with “UMCOR US Disaster Response” in the memo line. 100% of every donation to UMCOR goes to relief efforts!! Drop the check off at the church office, or place in the collection plate on Sunday during worship. (You may also donate cash to UMCOR through the church — please hand any cash donations directly to Julie Bouwens, our Financial Adminstrator, to be recorded and placed in the church safe.)
Go to our online giving page & click on the “click here to give online today” icon. Then follow the instructions to give your donation to UMCOR US Disaster Response through Plantation UMC. Click here to get started. If you need assistance with this, please call the church office.
You can also give directly to the relief efforts through the affected United Methodist Conferences. If you chose to do this, please let us know, so that we can keep track of what has been given by the people of Plantation UMC!
