The Pumpkins are coming! | Next Saturday! October 13th, 4:00pm
Sign up in the Sanctuary Lobby today to have some great fun with Derrick Forth and the Pumpkin Patch Logistics Team as they unload pumpkins to create a Pumpkin Patch on PLANTATION UMC’s front lawn next Saturday. The Patch will be open to our church family and community from Sunday, October 14th through Wednesday, October 31st.

International Cuisine and Cultural Celebration
The Plantation Interfaith Multicultural Committee is an all-volunteer group that represents many faiths and cultural heritage, all working to promote mutual understanding and fellowship among the diverse groups within our communities. The annual International Cuisine fundraiser, which is of sampling of foods from your state or country of origin, will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 3:00PM in the Fellowship Hall. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for kids. For tickets or questions, please contact Cas Wilson at interfaith@pumc.net. Hope to see you there!

Fall Festival Donations
Donate a bag of candy or a package of hot dogs and drop it off in the in the Church Office. Gift cards are also appreciated! We are also looking for families to decorate their car trunk! Registration forms available in the Church Office.

Field Trip Volunteers Needed!
Over 500 children from local schools will come to our Pumpkin Patch for field trips! We need lots of volunteers to read to them, help with crafts, run an activity station, and offer a welcoming smile! The field trips are weekday mornings (about 8:30-11:00) from Oct 17 to 30. If you have one or more mornings free and would like to help, please sign up in the lobby or email Pastor Kathy (knolasco@pumc.net). All volunteers must pass a background check.

Membership Class | Saturday, October 20th
What is Plantation UMC all about? What do Methodists believe, and why does it matter? What’s the point of becoming a church member? What in the world is a “spiritual gift”? Nov 6th, Constitutional Amendments | Are you informed?
In the upcoming November 6th Election, you will be asked to vote for or against, 13 separate amendments to our Florida Constitution. The question is, “Are You Ready?” In an effort to help you prepare to vote on these important matters, Attorney Ray Posgay of the Contemporary Class has scheduled a non-partisan informational presentation during the Sunday school hour, 9:45am, on Sunday, October 21st. So many of you expressed your appreciation for the recent session regarding the judicial races, come join us for yet another informative session. Sample ballots will be provided. Know what you are voting about. Be informed.

Veterans Day at Plantation UMC

Cuba Night | November 9th, 2018
The Cuba Sister Church Committee will meet October 21st, to finalize plans for the Cuba Night dinner to raise funds for our sister church in Consolación del Sur, Pinar del Río, Cuba. We will also be holding a silent auction on Cuba Night, and we are requesting items and services to be offered for auction to be delivered to the church office as soon as possible and no later than November 5th. If you would like to participate, please check here! Ticket sales will be held on 10/14, 10/21, 10/28 and 11/4 in the Fellowship Hall between services. Disaster Relief | Hurricane Florence
Thank you to all who have been praying for those in North and South Carolina who have been impacty Hurricane Florence! As we know from past storms here in South Florida, the recovery process is long and difficult. Your continuing prayers will be needed! Many have already asked how we can help. If you make a donation to The United Methodist Committee on Relief (“UMCOR”) US Disaster Response, 100% of every donation goes to relief efforts! Women’s Study: Making Sense of the Bible
A multi-generational, multi-cultural group of women who are seeking to know God better through reading books and lively discussion. On Wednesday, September 5th at 6:30pm in room 502 we will begin our discussion of “Making Sense of the Bible” by Adam Hamilton.  All women are invited to join us in this DVD and book study as we seek to deepen our understanding of the Bible and its meaning for us today.  Contact Carolyn Curry, cabcurry@comcast.net if you have questions or wish to order a book.

Bible Study: The Twelve Disciples
The Deeper Connections class invites you to join a Bible study focused on Jesus’ closest followers, the Disciples. Learn more about these ordinary men, who were transformed into extraordinary messengers of Christ’s love and reconciliation. Discover how their story can change your own.  Lessons will begin on Sunday, September 9th at 11:00am in room 502.

Chapel Bells Seek New Ringers
Our Chapel Bell choir is seeking new ringers! Now under the direction of Plantation UMC member Chris Cary, it’s the perfect time to try bells for the first time! No prior bell experience necessary. Can you count to 4? Do you know what quarter notes, eighth notes, and half notes are? Then you could play bells! If you’re interested, contact Pastor Kathy at knolasco@pumc.net.

PUMC Library AND Resource Center
The congregation has shared a lot of fun with this SUPERHEROES sermon series! Let’s continue the journey through some of the books Pastor Hedy mentioned in her sermons! The Library has copies of: Anatomy of Peace, Resident Aliens, and Didn’t See It Coming, along with many others covering subjects related to the sermon topics. The Library Team is constantly adding new books and multimedia resources to our collection. Stop by room 308 on Sunday to see what’s new!
