What's Up @ Plantation UMC?

Evensong | May 20th, 7:00pm
Kristen Vlaun, a member of our congregation, will bring the message.  Her theme will be “In Our Mind’s Eyes”, and she will focus on Pentecost, share some personal insights and lead us in a shared activity. Our guest artistes will be the new PUMC Youth Choir. All in all, the evening of Pentecost Sunday will be very special in our church. Invite family and friends to join us!

Child/Youth Protection Policy Training - June 3 - 12:30pm
The safety of our children and youth is of primary concern at Plantation UMC. For that reason, all volunteers who work with youth and children must be trained annually in our Child/Youth Protection Policy. The training will be Sunday, June 3rd, 12:30-1:30 in the Fellowship Hall. Lunch will be served! Adult VBS volunteers, please plan to stay until 2:30 for a VBS meeting.  Thanks for helping us keep our kids safe!  Questions? Contact Pastor Kathy at knolasco@pumc.net.

Summer Camps
Plantation UMC offers summer camps for age groups 3 through 12. The children don’t go off site on field trips. Instead, the field trips come to our campus! Every day is a different activity for the kids… from Rock Walls to Game Rooms, from Hapkido to Water Slides. Payment is flexible. You can pay by the week or by the day, so you don’t have to pay for days you don’t need! Camps begin June 11th! Contact us for more details!

We have two work days scheduled as we move into summer: June 16 & Sept 15. Habitat for Humanity seeks to put God’s love into action, bringing people together to build homes, communities and hope. They offer a “hand up” not a “hand out” to low to very low-income families! The homes are built primarily by volunteers, and we at Plantation UMC have loved being a part of several homes over the years! No construction experience is necessary, as skilled construction staff and skilled volunteer leaders will provide training and supervision. All tools, safety equipment and building materials needed for the day will be provided.

Our Chapel Bell choir is seeking new ringers! Now under the direction of Plantation UMC member Chris Cary, it’s the perfect time to try bells for the first time! No prior bell experience necessary. Can you count to 4? Do you know what quarter notes, eighth notes, and half notes are? Then you could play bells! If you’re interested, contact Pastor Kathy at knolasco@pumc.net.

The project work has officially begun! In spite of, indeed, because of the rain, our contractor began work on the parking lot repairs this week! Barring rain delays, and allowing for Memorial Day, that puts the completion of phase 1 roughly at Friday,  June 1st. We’ll keep you updated here and on the web-site with the details as the project progresses. We give thanks for the donations and all of the assis-tance (legal and project advice, questions, etc.) that has made this possible. And, we give God all of the praises.
