A nurturing, Christian school dedicated to providing quality education for infant - VPK children

OUR SCHOOL

Our School

Plantation United Methodist Preschool (PUMP) has provided loving child care and preschool education to the community for over 60 years.

Started in 1964 , PUMP is known in our community as a preschool that provides loving Christian education with small class ratios.

Plantation United Methodist Preschool is a ministry of Plantation United Methodist Church. PUMP strives to provide ministry to families in the community by providing quality education, considering the developmental needs of all young children, and encouraging the growth in all areas of development - social, emotional, intellectual, physical, and spiritual - as a continuous interrelated process.

Infants and Toddlers

(3 months - 3 years)

Our Infant and Toddler Program provides high-quality care in a nurturing, Christian, and child-centered environment where young children can learn, grow, and thrive. We focus on the development of the whole child by supporting social-emotional growth, building early academic foundations, and fostering spiritual development through meaningful, age-appropriate experiences.

Through play, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, chapel lessons, sensory exploration, science activities, and other hands-on learning opportunities, children are encouraged to discover and engage with the world around them. During these important early years, we lay the foundation for future learning by nurturing language development, strengthening gross motor skills, encouraging self-help and independence skills, and building positive relationships with others.

Our program creates a safe, loving, and stimulating environment where each child is supported in reaching developmental milestones and developing a lifelong love of learning.

Preschoolers

Children must be fully potty trained. Nap time optional.

Our Preschool Program continues to nurture each child's social-emotional development, independence, and confidence while introducing foundational academic concepts. Children explore the names, sounds, and shapes of letters and numbers, making meaningful connections between their everyday experiences and classroom learning. Through play, art, music, storytelling, chapel lessons, science exploration, and other hands-on activities, children develop new concepts in ways that are engaging, age-appropriate, and meaningful to their understanding of the world.

Using Teaching Strategies' Creative Curriculum alongside a variety of supplemental activities and learning platforms, we provide a balanced approach that bridges early childhood exploration with more structured academic learning. This program builds upon the strong foundation children have already established while further developing their fine motor skills, language and communication abilities, social skills, emotional awareness, and readiness for future educational success.

Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK)

Children must be 4 years old by September 1st.

Our Florida Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Program is designed to prepare children for a successful transition to Kindergarten by introducing them to a more structured learning environment while fostering a love of learning. Using Teaching Strategies' Creative Curriculum along with a variety of supplemental activities and educational platforms, we focus on building early literacy and print awareness, strengthening math skills, refining gross and fine motor development, enhancing language and communication abilities, and supporting social-emotional growth.

Our VPK students enjoy a well-rounded learning experience that includes hands-on classroom activities, indoor and outdoor play, arts and crafts, music, storytime, chapel lessons, science exploration, and more. Through engaging, age-appropriate experiences, children develop the academic, social, and emotional skills needed for future success in school.

We offer our VPK program from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at no cost to families who provide a Florida VPK voucher. Additional wraparound care options are available to accommodate your family's schedule and childcare needs..

Chapel
All students participate in weekly Chapel lessons on Wednesdays. Our infants and toddlers experience a more music-filled lesson in the preschool's family chapel with a staff volunteer. Our preschoolers and VPK students experience a more in-depth Chapel in the church sanctuary led by our pastors.

Pizza Fridays
Students from one-year-old and older are able to participate in pizza fridays. The cost is $12 per month during the school year, and $4 per Friday during June and July.

Summer Camp
PUMP is open year-round for all students infants through VPK graduates. During the summer, we take a break from our academic curriculum for a little more fun with water days, Ladybug Lori, mystery readers, bounce houses and snow cones, wild animal exhibits, and more.
